In 2020 Mick Suess presented the Park District with a check to say thank you for how much the Park District has meant to him throughout his life.
Suess' generosity allowed the Park District to explore recreational opportunities to further benefit the community. The Granite City Park District Staff, and Commissioners, ultimately decided that a disc golf course would be a great addition to Wilson Park.
The St. Louis Disc Golf Association worked closely with the Park District to determine the course's best location and layout.
In May of 2022 installation of the 18-hole course began. After securing grant funds through the Madison County Park Enhancement Program, the district was able to add the concrete pads in the spring of 2023.
On Arpil 27, 2024 the course was completed with signage and dedicated to Mick Suess. This course is a testament to Mick's generosity and our community's spirit.
The actions of Michael "Mick" Suess in his decision to donate resources to the Granite City Park District are entirely consistent with his many years of service in the Granite City Community and are sincerely appreciated.
